This recording is dedicated to the legacy of Doug Grigsby.

Doug Grigsby played bass on this, and several other recordings that I made in the production of two of my studio albums. Doug, and Rod Hicks, the drummer, worked on the recordings only after Glenn Barratt insisted that the computerized rhythm parts that I used in the production of these two albums could use an upgrade! Thank goodness we did.

Doug Grigsby passed away shortly after completing his work on several singles from the two albums. A second stroke took him from this life after a long and prolific musical career. In addition to playing with a multitude of bands and composing music, he served as musical director for Teena Marie’s band for more than 16 years!

I am forever grateful for his contributions to my recordings. His sound transcended notes and rhythm because Doug was kind, cheerful, and personable. Doug remains one of my favorite people. His spirit comes through the music every time I listen to anything he has recorded.

As is the custom of artists, Doug will always be with us
