The Eighth member of this Cadre of Artists is Liza Chen. To call her a photographer is to understate her artistry. The first step in what she will be doing for us will be photography, composing magnificent moments in time during the concert. What happens next is poetic! Her post production work of editing, coloring, isolating, simmering, glimmering, shining, Rockin’ n Rollin’ her photos into works of art has won her gallery shows, published works, and many famous clients in the arts and entertainment field. Liza is highly trained, with a degree in Fine Art Photography and Photojournalism. Her Master’s degree included specialized training in War Photojournalism. Her skill and stealth in this discipline makes her uniquely qualified in Concert Photojournalism. So if she disappears from view, you will know why.

I discovered the artwork of Liza Chen online. The first thing I noticed was the overwhelming number of pictures of musicians during their performances. Occasionally, I saw backstage celebrations. Sometimes I found shots taken in soundchecks or contemplative portraits; maybe a meet and greet now and then. I was drawn into the compositions. These weren’t just photographs; they were akin to poems, sculptures, and songs composed and arranged. Secondly, there was the obvious post-production craftwork that is rarely seen in photography, but commonplace in Liza Chen’s art. Colorized, Black & White, Sepia tones, blurred, sharpened…

As I planned for my next performance with CounterParts, there was only one way to secure the photographs I was hoping to get. On April 12th, 2025, Liza Chen was shooting the pictures!
