I enjoy writing compositions; with room for improvisation.

Every song has its own individual feel. You can label it if you like, but a song is inherently unique because of the distinctive combination of notes, rhythm, space, and phrasing. I just love writing songs; any style! The song will determine its own feel as it is sculpted.

At times, the chords come first. Sometimes the melody will start as a simple motif I’ve been humming throughout the day. The idea can also start as a beat or rhythm. When an idea comes to me, I work with that seed until it begins to grow.

I have played almost every genre at one time or another. My writing reflects these experiences. That is the reason I am exploring the idea of creating a Whole New Genre of Music.

Yes, I am currently teaching live at the Silver Music Studios. I offer lessons in piano and music theory. I am teaching children from 6 years old to adults, beginners to experienced performers.

I wrote, arranged, and performed the music on Bakers Dozen and About Time For Love. It was a deeply personal musical experience. Glenn Barratt at MorningStar Studios became a partner in creating the sound of these two albums. Other players that appear on these two albums were guided through their performance near the end of the production and were cut loose on the improvisations. However, we rehearsed the shows for The CounterParts: Live in Elkins Park. We played many new tunes. The members of the band were asked to contribute their ideas in the arranging and the performance.

I desire to tell stories that invoke a huge spectrum of emotion through music. The intricate details of emotion are palatable when listening to music. The nuance of changing emotion from one moment to the next is more easily expressed; without words that give the listener details about why they might feel that way. Thus, you experience love, pain, joy, loss, in your own way, for your own reasons. If the listener feels exactly what I felt when I wrote the song, I have really communicated with them in a miraculous way.
